If you are new to St. George riding, Gooseberry Mesa is a must. This is our signature trail and is worth a trip to Southern Utah in and of itself. The trail is technical and will give you a good upper body workout. We recommend you start on the Practice Loop for your first ride and then fan out from there depending on your comfort level. The scenery is spectacular and the trail is top notch.
From St. George, head north on I-15. Take the Hurricane Exit 16 and the follow Highway 9 toward Hurricane. Once in Hurricane you can follow the signs toward Kanab/Lake Powell. This will follow State St. through Hurricane to Main St where you will turn right. Go one block and turn left on 100 South. 100 South will turn into Highway 59 and take you up the mesa. Stay on Highway 59, past Apple Valley and the Little Creek Station. On your right you will see a big sign indicating the turn off for Gooseberry Mesa, go left at the sign. Follow the signs on this dirt road to the trail head.
Riding the trail...
As mentioned above, if you haven't ridden the trail before, we recommend that you try the Practice Loop first and then judge your comfort level. Traditionally the trail is ridden South Rim to the Point and then down the North Rim. However, there are multiple variations that can be done and you will find that riding the trail in reverse will make it seem like an entirely new experience
To ride the traditional loop from the White Trailhead head out onto the singletrack.:
2.7 Miles follow dirt road
2.8 Miles left onto singletrack
