The Kentucky Lucky Chicken Trail is the newest piece of singletrack in Washington County. We can say that because it is currently under construction. The loop is complete, and most of the signange is in, but there is still some polishing to do. This trail is technical and while it's short, 3.8 miles, it will give you a pretty good workout.
From downtown St. George, head south on River Road. Turn right on Fort Pierce Drive. Turn Left on Bloomington Hills Drive. Turn right on Fort Pierce Drive (yes, you will turn off and then back on Fort Pierce). Then turn left on Hillrise Avenue.
You can park your car at the end of the pavement and ride your bike up to the trail or if you have a high clearance vehicle, proceed up the dirt road. you will see a parking area surrounded by big rocks. There is a carsonite sign marking the trail. Park here.
Riding the trail...
The trail is not directional, but you will get two significantly different ride experiences depending on which way you roll it. If you ride the loop clockwise, you have a fairly mellow climb with some techy sections followed by a fun downhill with plenty of obstacles to keep you on your toes.
Flip the loop and you have a hard climb with lots of technical aspects followed by a downhill that will keep you on your toes.
Seeing that not everything is signed and this is a technical trail, be sure to pay attention to your surroundings.
