Owens Loop is a short trail that hugs the edge of the red bluff North of St. George. It isn't well used trail and some navigation skills are needed. The trail stays mostly on the sandstone and has some very interesting moves.

Getting there...

The trail is accessed just Northwest of the Skyline Drive and Red Hills Parkway intersection. Park in Pioneer Park and use the bike path to access the trail. The trail is on the West side of the road, just step over the turtle fence.

Riding the trail...

Once at the trail, follow the single track up the mesa. There are a few obstacles to overcome, notably the Chute which is a narrow crack in a rock that is possible to be ridden down, but you will need to shoulder your bike to get up. The only signed intersection you will come to is the junction with City Creek. Continue straight and you will stay on Owens Loop. The loop will stay on the bench until it drops down into the saddle. This is where the trail gets interesting. Pick your way over the obstacles and through the rocks up to the other side where you will once again start seeing signs. You will come to a split in the trail, this is the loop. Go either way, you will end up back here to trace your steps back to the trail head. Traditionally Owens Loop is ridden in conjunction with City Creek.

Don't feel like driving? You can easily pedal to this trail.
