Description

Toroweap is a chunk of the Grand Canyon National Park that sits almost directly south of St. George.  It's claim to fame is solitude, sitting at the end of a almost 100 miles of dirt road it provides plenty of it. There's also the views. From the edge of the canyon, you can look 3000 feet down to the Colorado River.?

Getting there...

From St. George, find your way to River Road and head south. You will pass under the Southern Parkway and River Road will cross the Arizona State Line and turn to dirt. Continue South. You will follow this road all the way into Mt Trumbull. There is a sign and an old school house that will mark the turn, go left. Climb over Mt. Trumbull and drop off the other side. At the base you will come to another fork, go right. The sign will indicate the direction to Toroweap. Follow the road into the park.

Know before you go...

Water is only available on top of Mt Trumbull and must be filtered. To camp on the edge, you will need to carry enough water down to the park or have a water drop. We recommend camping on top of Mt Trumbull and riding into the park and back to your base camp.

This is a giant chunk of land that has very little access, no cell service and maybe a few grumpy outsiders. Be sure to carry everything you need, know the route, water sources and make sure someone knows you are headed out to the big ditch.
